Hello, am the founder of Taiji Chen Style Gibraltar.

 This challenging experience not only tested my physical limits but also reshaped my entire approach to health and well-being.

During my recovery, I explored various healing modalities, including Tai Chi, Meditation, Qi Gong, and mindful nutrition, as part of my rehabilitation.

A typical session starts with a light warm-up leading onto more strenuous static poses while under stretch and followed by a further warm session.

This sets us for the main plate - the Tai Chi sequence that, when looking as an observer, looks easy but in fact is quite challenging as it requires full awareness of the movements and weight transfer of your body in order to coordinate, memorize and make smooth transitions.

Along the way, Nigel throws in a few gems, connects Tai Chi with Philosophy, with silk worms threading the silk, Chan Si Gong that links with the Fibonacci sequence with nature.

In summary, if one is looking for an activity to stretch and strengthen their body, improve their balance, coordination, and mobility and learn a bit of philosophy along the way, then an entertaining Tai Chi session with Nigel is recommended… and yes, always with a smile to bring out a smile in you.

The Smile That Healed: A Journey of Resilience and Recovery

 

In these photos, you’ll see the aftermath of a life-altering event—seven fractured vertebrae, one of which exploded. The journey to recovery wasn’t just about healing physically; it was about overcoming the mental and emotional challenges that came with it. And through it all, one thing remained constant: my smile.

Why a smile? Because in the darkest moments, your mindset is your most powerful tool. During my months in the hospital, I learned that keeping my mentality intact was just as important as the medical treatments I received. Meditation became my lifeline. I dedicated over eight hours a day to this practice, focusing my mind and harnessing the power of positivity to fuel my recovery.

Learning to walk again was a challenge that required more than just physical effort. Each step was a lesson in patience, resilience, and the power of Tai Chi and Qigong. These practices, which I had honed over years, became the foundation upon which I rebuilt my strength. Every slow, deliberate step was a victory, each one bringing me closer to the life I knew I could reclaim.

Nutrition played a crucial role as well. I turned to fasting, a vegetarian diet, and the healing power of vegetables and juices to rebuild my body from within. These weren’t just meals—they were medicine, helping me detoxify, heal, and regain my strength.

  • Tai Chi Practice (9:20-10:00 AM): Begin learning the traditional Tai Chi form's first section of Laojia Yi Lu. We’ll focus on the first 5 of 20 moves, emphasizing technique, fluidity, and the connection between breath and movement. This practice will help you build a strong foundation in Tai Chi.

 

  • Meditation Session (10:10-11:00 AM): Discover meditation techniques inspired by Dr. Joe Dispenza. We’ll explore using neuroplasticity to create new personal realities, reduce stress, and enhance mental clarity.
